White-collar world conference reveals urgent need to organize
IndustriALL Global Union affiliates from 18 countries around the world met in Geneva, Switzerland, for the White-Collar World Conference on 19 and 20 April.
The 52 participants from 28 unions, including 22 women, recognized the importance of organizing white-collar workers as industry is becoming increasingly automated:
Global support for workers at VW Chattanooga plant
Unions from Poland, Germany, UK, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, the U.S., and Switzerland convened in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to show solidarity for workers at the local Volkswagen plant. The German auto manufacturer is defying a court ruling and continues to deny workers their legal right to organize.
Union action prevents potential repetition of Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh
On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, which killed more than a 1,000 garment workers, swift action by an IndustriALL trade union affiliate in the country has prevented a potential tragedy from taking place.
Unite appeals for solidarity with Fujitsu UK workers
IndustriALL Global Union affiliate, Unite, is appealing for solidarity action in support of Fujitsu workers in the UK, as the company plans to axe 1,800 jobs.
MEPs demand respect for labour rights in Sri Lanka
A fact finding mission to Sri Lanka, including Members of the European Parliament, has concluded that workers must have the right to organize and bargain collectively if the country is to be granted preferential trading conditions by the European Union.
