I'm not commenting on "someone's identity", I am commenting on the entire myth of these fixed sexual orientations and matching identities which is reinforced by queer identity politics. That is certainly my business to comment on, regardless of whether it ruffles your feathers.

I assume the first part is pretty self explanatory, so I will address the second part. I don't like identity politics in general, but I think there is something particularly artificial about identity politics centered around sexual orientation. I don't think human sexuality is fixed, I don't think most people are only ever attracted strictly to people of the opposite sex, and I don't think that sexual attraction actually fits into these nice little boxes with corresponding labels and identities to match. To me, queer identity politics is largely about solidifying these false identities, and I actually think there are more than a few people out there who adopt these alternative identities at least partially to be trendy and different. Does that make sense?
