but yeah thats right. I think most loyalists in Belfast suffer from 'siege mentality', and paranoia about a United Ireland. From the start of the Troubles the DUP capitalised on these fears and ousted the more progressive (at the time) UUP under Terence O'Neill. I suppose like anywhere once a party is in power people are unwillign to change unless there is a radical reason, after power-sharing emerged there were some more radical factions that split off from the DUP, but generally they seem to have done very well alongside Sinn Fein in bringing peace to Northern Ireland.
