Yes that would be an example of overreacting, viewing someone as hopeless simply for having a view you happen to disagree with over a minor issue. It is overreactions like this that creates the leftist circular firing squad where we can't even deal differences among other on the left let along the rest of the proletariat.

How was it kept in perspective? We are talking about the censorship of a word when the left is divided on even the issue of censorship itself. It turned into of a issue of those that don't agree with the censorship of the word is a counter-revolutionary that was not even the intention of the censorship of the word on Revleft.

I bought up Tony Cliff as it is impossible to communicate with the proletariat at large if we overreact over such minor disagreements of terminology.

No what we got is people getting offended at the drop of a hat with Khad stating it in proper English (and dictionaries still classify it as proper English) is worse then used in slang.

Revleft has banned the word but that ban has not been implemented throughout the entire left movement, people seem to forget that Revleft is not the center of the left and the left doesn't instantly follow what ever Revleft decides on collectively.

Not all leftists believe in censorship even censorship as minor as banning words. Now Revleft has the right to ban the word but that does not mean everyone in the world has to follow suit.

Freak means at its worse "An abnormally formed organism, especially a person or animal regarded as a curiosity or monstrosity."

So you telling me calling people a curiosity or monstrosity is not as bad?

Just because you are stating deficiencies in a organization doesn't mean you are being discriminatory to everyone with those deficiencies. If it did a lot of revolutionaries would be guilty of such as it is not uncommon on the left to denounce capitalists through calling them deficient in some way. Even in the event that such denouncements are in bad taste most mature parties simply accept the well meaning then go into why while it was well meaning in bad taste from the point of view of the party's standpoint that is because as Tony Cliff pointed out you don't bring class consciousness by simply denouncing members of the proletariat you don't agree with and refusing to work with them.

I'm upset people didn't call Khad out for using freak a far worse them but called me out for using the still mostly proper term. It is like getting called out for using the word gay from someone using the term fag.

As for parents they probably do believe by changing terminology they will stop the stigma but it won't and I don't think it is honest of the left to not be truthful and tell them they are just dealing with a symptom.

Think about it the mental health profession changing away from the word will do practically nothing since they rarely mean any harm in using it yet those who with to do use it to intentionally harm those with the condition will continue to use it and the substitutes thus all you'd do it giving bullies a larger vocabulary of words to insult those with the condition.

Meanwhile those the mental health profession will have to print up whole new forms, databases, text books, ect costing labor value for very little benefit to society if any as in a decade or so they will be right back to where they started and there will be a movement to change the terminology again because too many people use the new terminology as a insult.
