They can say these things, from the comfort of their homes. Their words on this forum have little bearing on the struggle for Ireland though, and I doubt a lot of the people talking in that manner would be willing to take up arms against oppression.

I guess what I'm getting at is to not take them too seriously. It is frustrating but shouldn't detract us.

Here in the republican socialist tendency group we're fairly Leninist, so we tend to go by Lenin's work Left Wing Communism an Infantile Disorder. So that's probably what the CPGB ML comrade Philosophical Materialist was referring to. Basically ultra lefties are those who make too many principles of issues that don't need to be principles- like being in principle against all electoral work, or being in principle against unions, national lib, etc.

a lot of the ultra lefties sound like Thatcherites in their mad rush to call republicans criminals. it was shocking to me at first as I've never met most of these colourful political tendencies in real life...

it's interesting when some bring up the darkley hall massacre as "proof" that the INLA was/is a sectarian army. AFAIK, being completely honest, it's the only sectarian attack that has been attributed in any way to the irps, and even then it wasn't something ordered by the INLA. If you read some of the literature on the irps out there, such as the book which is regarded as a tabloid smear by many, INLA: Deadly Divisions, it doesn't portray the irps as being a sectarian (anti-Protestant) movement.

Which leads me to wonder if the people who use that smear aren't aware of this reality (and so aren't as well informed as they claim to be) or if they just hope no one will challenge their cherry picked version of IRSM history.

Actually the Libarary at libcom is pretty amazing...However the forums are out and out psycho. They viciously mocked a fellow anarchist from Cornwall for being supportive of the language and seperatist movement there. They labelled the Workers Solidarity Movement "deeply reactionary" for holding a meeting in an Irish language centre. For all their internationalism such things strike me as "British" chauvanism. But didnt one anarchist in the really mad group in 6 counties join the IRSP and even ended up in a leadership position?

Ha, that made me smile. Partly cos its true. It seems what some of them suffer from is a bit of self rightousness and something of a superiority complex.

I am not a IRSP member but I do support what they do and I am working class- so how does that make the organisation anti-working class? Everyone who I know supports them in eire, is of a working class background.

Well Gauche Proletarianne which was a Maoist group in France (and actually ended up being made illegal!) was also very critical of the Trade Unions...I dont know enough about the situation in the six counties but here in the Free State SIPTU could well be described as anti-working class. They have been in social parternship for years (though thats kind of cracking up now) and seem totally unconcerned about the non-unionized who make up most of the class here, and forget uniting "legal" and "illegal" workers. However the Independent Workers' Union who were interviewed in the last edition of the Starry Plough which was sold on the newstand outside of Easons seem very cool...It would be good if someone could post that interview here. I would support them totally but not the big Unions.
