Ethics of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophies, both personal and social, are revolutionary to this day, and both those philosophies are based on pure rationality, not any myths, traditions, or similiar, so I don't see how's that "conservatism" (from the verb "conserve") and the only people who wrote about virtue and ascetism based on reason in modern political theory are Locke and Rousseau, who are called fathers of liberalism, not conservatism. I don't get the fascination with value-materialism and decadence among the leftist, IMO, those are purely capitalist mindsets and lifestyles.
