Phil Goff sounds exactly like Don Brash 4 years ago.
 Such a cynical approval ratings grab. Goff knows noone likes him and thinks he's just a slimy bureaucrat (polling at 5%). He's trying desperately for this not to be the case by appealing to some of the most reactionary elements of NZ culture.A comrade of mine was saying how he saw something on TV when they compared a speech Don Brash had given back in the day to Phil Goff and it was pretty much the same... I should ask him what the show was.

BTW, the 'National Party' is NZ's conservative party.
Another thing is he talks like he's in parliament. That's strange since he's talking to a a Grey Power meeting (NZ's old peoples pensioners association).
