RED & GREEN ALTERNATIVE CALLS INTERNATIONAL MEETING

During two days in Istanbul, Turkey, 17/18 September 2011, the founder members of RAGA, the Red & Green Alternative, agreed to organise a RAGA international meeting to take place in Istanbul 5-8 July 2012. They agreed a provisional agenda with ecology at its heart, together with social emancipation, real democracy and the urgent need to escape from a society based on capital, wage-labour and domination. The founder members listed below call on other political organisations, trade unions, alternative media and active individuals seeking a dialogue between red and green to support this initiative.

RAGA INITIAL STATEMENT

RAGA puts at the heart of its discussion:

- ecology, recognition that human life depends on our environment and is an integral part of it; and recognition that capitalism inevitably degrades and destroys our ecosystem; a more natural way of life not based on ever-increasing production and consumption but within the limits of our planet

- systems such as socialism, for free people, their fundamental needs, and social justice, equality, solidarity, fraternity and feminism; putting an end to capitalism, wage-labour and dominations
- real democracy (co-operative self management, grassroots), genuinely based on the will, consent and active participation of the people, with local preferred to central

Hello. Im in Portugal we have RP system with d-Hont method. So we are probably the last country in Europe that still has a representative left in parlament. How would you explain Luxemburg´s voting system, would it favour small left parties?
